Estimate the fate of business in Russia and your situation inside this specific circumstance. Russia and Central Eastern Europe is absolutely one of the most encouraging business sector territories of the world. With an amazing heritage from the Soviet time, an informed populace and immense regular assets, Russia has an extraordinary potential for advancement. In spite of the fact that assailed by serious financial issues and political and administration wasteful aspects at that point, the country has the potential for a tremendous rebound this may occur when 2010. Its restoration can have a reviving impact on different nations of the locale that have plausibility to extend by selling their items in Russia and have a significant number of indistinguishable points of interest from their bigger neighbor. The accomplishment of any future business in Russia will rely upon ones capacity to discover approaches to achievement in this mind boggling setting. Need article test on Russia and Central Eastern Europe as a market zone point? We will compose a custom article test explicitly for you Continue To evaluate Russias future, one ought to recall as a matter of first importance that the country was the principle developmental piece of the Soviet Union, one of the two superpowers that took an interest neglected War. In spite of the undeniable thrashing in this competition with the US, the USSR had the option to hold ground against the West for a very long while, and not in the last because of its created industry and military complex. Starting at now, Russian weapons, for example, rockets, tanks, rifles and others stay a serious item on the world field. The country is a significant provider of weapons in worldwide markets, and this assembling includes numerous innovative issues that are hard to imitate in different nations. With a skilful administration, the nation can make this a genuine favorable position, and in 2010 all the more innovatively propelled businesses can create. One need not recollect, nonetheless, the Soviet creation, characterized by the legislature to meet their uncommon political objectives, was planned for making the nation ground-breaking, not at making an individual resident wealthy. The disregard for singular utilization has prompted a work in progress of this segment. This caused lasting insufficiency of shopper merchandise, which is negative for residents, yet opens incredible opportunities for remote organizations with a notable, item with widely acclaimed quality. The Soviet Union additionally left behind a very noteworthy instructive framework that, being free for quite a while, gave access to gifted adolescents from everywhere throughout the Soviet Union. This framework made due right up 'til the present time in Russia and Central European nations, for example, Ukraine, Belarus, and Moldova. With strong instructive foundations and a sound educational system, these countries can turn out a reliably high caliber of instructive projects and in outcome qualified masters that can push the economy. The post-Soviet states are particularly striking for their exploration and training in arithmetic and regular sciences, which is exceptionally significant for the improvement of modern creation in these nations. CIA World Factbook (2006) states that the proficiency rate in Russia is around 99.6%. Subsequently, lack of education is basically non-existent in these countries, which can likewise assist them with accomplishing achievement in business. In fiv e years time, Russia will keep on delivering all around qualified authorities who will have hit the market and made changes in the economy. Regular assets are additionally not an issue to limit without any problem. This fundamentally alludes to Russia as Central Europe doesn't contain such huge numbers of assets. Russias advancement specifically will be truly influenced by the huge stores of oil of 69 billion barrels by 2003 evaluations that make is second significant oil provider of the world after Saudi Arabia (CIA 2006). Fortunes made on oil, for example, those of Mikhail Khodorkovsky and Roman Abramovich vouch for the reality the oil saves are a significant wellspring of riches whenever appropriated fairly. The nationalization of Abramovichs organization Sibneft and the true nationalization of Yukos, for all the outrage related with the occasion, imply that the Kremlin has recovered power over the rewarding business, and the oil incomes are bound to remain in the nation, conveying monetary advantages. Oil income are accepted to have added to a great decrease in Russias remote obligation (dropping from 90% of GDP in 1 998 to about 36%) and flood in outside stores (from $12 billion to about $180 billion toward the finish of 2005) (CIA 2006). Surely the effect of oil incomes will rely upon the capacity of the Russian government to outfit the consistent stream of income for modernization and improvement of economy, yet at any rate this pad can enable the country to make a change from Soviet-time obsolete plants and manufacturing plants to a progressively present day, propelled economy. With Russias current arrangements focused on the development of an adjustment finance, this may get simpler to acknowledge by 2010. A similar pad for change is managed, for example, to Belarus as lower gas costs regarded appropriate by the Russian government because of broad participation with Lukashenkos system. Ukraine, valid, has lost hold of a chance to benefit from less expensive gas that was recently provided by Russia in the wake of picking an ace Western political course, however with the new races coming the country can reevaluate its future bearing and by and by enter a concurrence with Russia at modest gas costs. These would offer Central Europe without a doubt a questionable preferred position in building up their economies, making them subordinate upon Russia. Be that as it may, lower gas costs can likewise assist them with developing their economies to satisfy Western guidelines. Regardless, the flimsiness of the political circumstance and reliance on gas costs on legislative issues makes the Central Eastern European economies of the area rather insecure. The improvement of the area will most likely face numerous difficult issues. The Soviet period left a negative heritage that is hard to survive. As a framework grounded in debasement, it left a much more dreadful defilement to the new market economy that quickened in the wild perestroika period and was associated in Russia to the age of Boris Yeltsin. In spite of the fact that Vladimir Putin is seen as a more grounded pioneer, progressively viable in bridling this unsafe marvel, there is no sign that it has stopped to be a figure both corporate and government dynamic. Talking about Central Eastern Europe, it is without a doubt a factor in Ukraine where its present President picked up power after effectively misusing the subject of defilement in previous President Leonid Kuchmas government. Degenerate authorities keep on settling on one-sided choices that influence the productivity of business since agreements and licenses regularly go not to those with the best capacities, however to those with the best associations. Be that as it may, the experience of Italy, for example, shows that debasement isn't powerful, and that the country can make its economy work even with this unsafe marvel present. Every one of these variables will influence the improvement of Russia and Central Eastern Europe in the following not many years. Most presumably, by 2010 development of the Russian economy will proceed, despite the fact that the objective broadcasted by Vladimir Putin, multiplying the national GDP, will barely be accomplished. Russia will most presumably keep on drawing its development from its characteristic assets as oil costs are probably going to take off much further. This can result in the countrys economy developing, while the riches will stay gathered in the hands of a rich inner circle of businesspeople and degenerate authorities. This will make pay dissemination slanted proceeding with the pattern of the past, starting at 1998 when the top most extravagant 10% of the country devoured 38.7%, the base 10% represented just 1.7% of national utilization (CIA 2006). This makes the Russian market a decent spot for extravagance products that are enthusiastically devoured by the to p rich, while likewise exhibiting the slack in open utilization. To this date, in the lanes of Moscow, one can see extravagance vehicles while most of the populace can't bear the cost of a vehicle and need to utilize open transportation. In any case, if economy keeps on blasting which is no doubt, individual livelihoods that have posted increments over 12% in 2005 will keep on developing (CIA 2006). This will add catalyst to the advancement of the Russian market for buyer products that, as expressed previously. frequently stay beneath world norms an eventual outcome of the Soviet period. Along these lines, the Russian purchasers that have recouped after the 1998 money related emergency will in future be better ready to pay for products and ventures, a reality which opens additional opportunities for customer driven enterprises. A similar will be watched most likely in Ukraine, Belarus, and Moldova that likewise show a littler lopsidedness (23.2% versus 3.7% in Ukraine) and a marginally progressively impartial pay circulation, so in these countries a littler ascent in salary will have more noteworthy effect on flourishing of conventional residents who are shoppers for mass market items (CIA 2006). The organization that needs to prevail with regards to offering shopper products to Russian, Ukrainian or Belarusian purchasers will most likely need to start a business in one of these nations since imports might be truly influenced by obligations and portions. Along these lines, the two countries are putting forth overwhelming attempts to ensure their local car enterprises, slapping imported vehicles, particularly utilized ones, with substantial import obligations. An organization that will wander into nearby gathering may before long addition upper hand over its adversaries that will come later to similar markets. Furthermore, organization with neighborhood businesspeople can have different genuine points of interest. For example, this will permit agents to explore through complex systems of neighborhood authorities and elenawilliahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00456235223446236455noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3864983788987346431.post-1670853031059022542020-08-21T05:30:00.003-07:002020-08-21T05:30:22.473-07:00Decisions Released TODAY @ 628 p.m.Decisions Released TODAY @ 628 p.m. MIT Regular Action admissions decisions for the Class of 2017 will be available today at 6:28 p.m. (Deep breath) Please dont be crazy and click refresh 200 times in a minute. For centuries women have been considered inferior to men because we are not physically as strong as they are, and yet we persevere. As a woman, I would like to think we are warriors, not victims. We have come a long way but are we where we need to be? There is still radical sexism in society today. In the US women are paid less than men for the same type of employment. In the US women are considerably less likely to obtain high status jobs. The term boys club leaves a bad taste in my mouth, but we hear it all the time. Society has gradually let us believe women have a place, but that place is below men. We have officially had enough, and we are ready for equality. There is a movement happening. Women deserve the same human rights that men are entitled to, not just in the US, but worldwide. In the United States we are sheltered to the treatment of women in other co untries experience. The media does not address this in the manner it deserves. This is unacceptable. Whether it be cultural or religious views, women are being oppressed. They are being tortured or assaulted on a daily basis. There are countries that mutilate women s genitalia. There are countries that make women cover the majority their face. Being able to communicate effectively and clearly in your own environment and comfort zone may seem challenging enough, but it increases exponentially in a different culture. Globalization is unavoidable in this day and age, and therefore being able to communicate in the face of cultural diversity is more important than ever. We will write a custom essay sample on The Advantages of Having Good Communication Skill or any similar topic only for you Order Now There are two parts of communication that hold true no matter what culture you are in. Verbal and nonverbal communication exists regardless of the surrounding environment. Last summer I studied abroad in Valence, Spain. Obviously the verbal communication was completely different due to the language barrier, but the most difficult part was understanding and using the appropriate colloquialisms and metaphoric phrases. Informer the bombâ⬠and ââ¬Å"Chill outâ⬠when directly translated do not take on the same meaning as they do here. It was interesting learning the different phrases and the locals found it funny when we told them they were explosives or to cool off in a refrigerator as they understood it. The most challenging difference of communication in Spain was the nonverbal specs. To best explain, Americans typically speak at an arms length distance. The Spaniards, however, have a completely different concept of personal space. If you were to hold out your arm and touch the personââ¬â¢s shoulder in front of you that you are speaking to, you would be at an appropriate distance away from he or she in our culture. Now if you both fold your arms at the elbow and take a step closer to where your elbows are touching, you are at an appropriate distance in the Spanish culture. I found that very difficult to get used to. It was as if our noses were touching. Personal space was Just one of many of the nonverbal aspects of communication that was different in this culture but it is by the far the one I remember most. Although there are many topics that can be covered under the umbrella of communication I chose communication in the face of cultural diversity because I have recently had a personal experience with it and hope to have many more in my lifetime. It is critical that I learn and understand how to communicate in different cultures for my future career and I am excited about future opportunities to do so. Conflict Management and Negotiation Recently I have learned the importance of conflict management in a leadership role. I am planning formal for my sorority this year, and have been in the process with my co-chair for over a year. In December 2010 we had a venue and date booked for this Saturday, February 18, 2012. Eleven days before the event, close to one hundred girls signed up after the specified deadline almost doubling the guest count to four hundred people. This has caused my co-chair and me to go into a craze with changing transportation, catering, and venue costs for the additional people. The aroma was originally free as we had been planning and budgeting extremely well for over a year, yet changing the numbers exponentially less than two weeks before the event incurred breach of contract fees, additional staffing fees, additional security fees, additional transportation fees, and additional catering fees per person. Unfortunately after promising our sorority a free formal for the first time in history of formals, we are now having to charge eleven dollars a person or twenty-two dollars a couple due this Thursday by 5:PM. Obviously any manager or individual in a dervish role can imagine the conflicts this additional charge has caused between my co-chair and me and the members of our sorority. We have received very inconsiderate emails and are dealing with explaining to two hundred why a week before the event there is a charge to attend. Through the assigned reading I have realized I am going through an interrupt conflict, or a conflict between groups or teams in an organization. Unfortunately the groups are incredibly unevenly divided, as it is two against two hundred. My co-chair and I have been frantically trying to explain the situation and accommodate everyone o ensure a positive atmosphere surrounding the event without severing the relationships and bonds we have with out sisters. Although some understand the situation and are still appreciative of the hard work that we have put in for over a year, others are still upset and we receive emails everyday with questions and concerns that are not always written as appropriately as we would like. The biggest issue that my co-chair and I have been coping is the idea of losing trust amongst our sisters. Although some understand the situation, the few that do not have made it clear they do not appreciate the last minute details, even though ecological it was not our fault for the situation. We have not placed blame on anyone but unfortunately others have placed blame on us causing a mix between functional and dysfunctional conflicts within the interrupt conflict. We are sure the event will still be pleasant and everyone will enjoy it, but if I have learned anything from this it is that no matter how much time, effort, and organization a person puts into the planning of an event, something will always go wrong and someone will always be dissatisfied. However, it is important to manage the conflict with those that I can and o ensure that I take care of myself and enjoy the event Saturday that I have worked so hard planning for. Customer service is truly an industry that is not the fantasy it is glorified to be and I am thankful to have learned that now. Power Influence Influence is the process of affecting the thoughts, behavior, or feelings of another person. Personally, influence is the determining factor of all decisions I make. The ethical question behind influence, however, is where does it come from and which influence tactic is most appropriate and effective in a given situation. Ideally I hope that all decisions I make come from within. However it is difficult to determine how and what has shaped my basis of beliefs. Do I make my own decisions, or does my faith, family, boss, or group of friends influence my decisions? In addition to where influence comes from, another driving force behind decommissioning is influential tactics. According to the reading, there are four influential tactics used most frequently. These four tactics are consultation, rational persuasion, inspirational appeals, and integration. Tactics are used for impression management, which refers to individualsââ¬â¢ use of influence tactics to control others impressions of them. Determining which influential tactic to implement depends on the target audience and target goal. For example, I am actively involved in Relay For Life on campus as I hold the Marketing Executive Co-chair position benefiting the American Cancer Society. We are always looking for new ways to influence the student body and ourselves to get involved and remain enthusiastic. At each of our meetings and events, we implement the inspirational appeal tactic. We open each meeting with a studentââ¬â¢s story of why he or she relays. Often these stories as very heart-wrenching and appeal to everyone s we all have gotten involved due to some effect of a loved one suffering from cancer. Influence is a powerful tool in everyday life and especially in high involvement decisions. It is important to utilize ethics when influencing a person though. Determining which appeal is most appropriate may be difficult but is essential to avoid coercing anotherââ¬â¢s decision that he or she may not be satisfied with at a later date. Overall, influential basis and tactics can and should be used appropriately to help another individualââ¬â¢s decision process and not abuse power over someone else. Answer: Introduction This essay will address the concept of business internationalization. Internationalization process is the initiates in an organization when it seeks to expand its venture outside its domestic boundaries. It is the process of designing of the products in such a fashion that it will meet the needs of the users in many countries or can easily be adapted to do so. Various reasons could be spot for an organization to internationalize their business. They can be like, diversification, economics of scale, government incentives, market growth, joint venture opportunities and saturated domestic market. There are a number of methods that can be adopted to expand the retail domestic organizational business into emerging markets. They are export based, non-equity based, and equity based methods. Export can again be divide into direct and indirect exporting. Similarly, non-equity based method is divided into licensing and franchising, and equity based method into joint ventures and green field in vestment. Different methods are opted by many organizations depending of various factors related to the market of expansion. They can be political, social, environmental, or technological. Using the pest analysis for studying the market situation, organization selects any particular internationalization method that is suitable for the particular market. A brief theoretical analysis of these methods along with the advantages and disadvantages are presented in the essay and highlight how it can maximize the chances of success and minimize the risk. The theories are then connected with the real world case scenarios to provide a better understanding of the concept and recommendation is added in the final part. Export mode of entry Exporting is one of the key and effective market entry modes available to the multinational organizations seeking to enter in a new country. It refers to the process of transporting the items or products to the host country from the home country with the help of the chosen mode of transportation (Cavusgil et al. 2014). In the initiation of the export mode of entry, business organizations do not have any physical presence in the host country, rather than they are only responsible in sending the products in the host market. However, export mode of entry can also be classified in two part based on their approach. One part represents the direct exporting and another is indirect exporting. Direct exporting Direct exporting refers to the process of exporting the products from the home to the host country directly by the organization. In this case, exporting organizations maintains a separate department to look after the export process (Gubik and Karajz 2014). In addition, in the case of the direct exporting, the particular organization has their own selling representatives in the host country. These representatives act as the face of the exporting organization in the host country. They are also responsible for the generation of revenue as well as volume of sales in the host country. Indirect exporting Indirect exporting is another type of export mode of entry. According to this strategy, the exporting organization does not take the sole responsibility of managing the export process by own. Rather than they involves various intermediaries such as exporting consultants, third party selling representatives and trade merchants. It helps the exporting organization in reducing the responsibility being associated with exporting of the products. Moreover, one of the key advantages being garnered from the indirect mode of exporting is the expertise being possessed by the third party intermediaries. This is due to the reason that, intermediaries is having more expertise and specialization compared to the exporting organization. The intermediaries have more market information and data than the exporting organization and thus it will be more beneficial and effective for the exporting organization to involve the intermediaries in exporting their products in the host country. Types of indirect exporters There are various types of indirect exporters such as export merchants, trading houses, trading companies and agents. Export merchants refer to traders who are involved in buying the goods from the exporting organization and sell it in their own in the host country. In this case, the key advantage for the exporting organization is the reduction of the responsibility and risk for them in exporting the products. Export houses buy products from different organization and export those according to the requirement of the host countries. In this case, the key advantage for the exporting organization is the reduction of the risk and less influence of the determining factors for the trend of export (Lehtinen, Ahokangas and Lu 2016). This is due to the reason that, export houses buys in bulk from the manufacturing organizations and stores them, which are being further exported in the host country according to the demand. Agents or brokers are quite similar of the selling agent for the exporting organization. However, the key differences between them and the selling agents is that, selling agents is the employee of the organization, whereas, agents or brokers performs theselling and marketing activities on the behalf of the exporting organization in exchange of commission. The key advantage with this intermediary is the less responsibility of the exporting organization due to the fact that they do not have to employ anyone permanently in the host country. Critical analysis There are various researches being done by various authors about the merits and demerits of exporting as an entry mode for the business organizations. According to Handley (2014), export mode of entry is the most effective and secured entry mode strategy for the organization seeking entry in the international business. This is due to the reason that, in the case of exporting the responsibility of the organizations are limited to the transportation of the items to the host country. Thus, they do not have to incur any risk regarding the political, social or legal risk in the host country. Moreover, according to the author, export mode of entry is the most cost effective strategy for the organizations. This is due to the reason that, no huge investment is required in the case of exporting and there is no need of setting up operational facilities in the host country for the organization. Some other authors have given the opinion about the deeper understanding of the exporting strategy. According to Seker (2012), exporting of the products in the developing countries holds extra benefits for the exporting organization. This is due to the reason that, in the current business scenario, developing countries are having the growth rate even more compared to some of the developed countries. Thus, the market potential is increasing and along with that, the business opportunity of the organizations is also increasing. In addition, the author also stated that, the products, which are being becoming obsolete in the developed countries, would have huge market potential in the developing countries. This is due to the reason that, developing countries are having the less access of the updated products compared to the developed countries. Thus, exporting of the goods, which are being obsolete in the home country for the organization, will find huge market in the developing countries . Dyner and Ryabova (2013) stated that there are various demerits for the export mode of entry. According to them, there are many uncertainties in relation of the exporting. This is due to the reason that, in the case of exporting, the organizations have to incur extra cost by the way of import and export tariffs. Thus, eventually the cost of the products is increased and lead to less market potential in the host market. In addition, they also stated that, in the case of the exporting, organizations do not have the physical presence in the host market. Thus, it will affect their market penetration activities. Non-equity based Method Non-equity based entry mode is the process that in where the organization directly involves it the market through two main ways. They are Licensing and Franchising. It enables the company to have a partial influence over the market. Licensing It is an agreement between the licensor and licensee where the licensor grants permission to sell the organizations product in the foreign country. The licensor on the other hand receives a loyalty fee from the licensee based on the mode of operation. In other words, a firm in one county grants permission to a company in another country to use the manufacturing, processing, trademark (Pietrasie?ski 2011). For example, suppose a videogame manufacturer in US wants to expand their business to Africa using the licensing method, they need to make an agreement with an African firm allowing them to use their product patent and giving other resources in return for a payment. The African firm can them manufacture and sell video game in Africa with the US companys brand name. For example, Lego bought the license of the Batman character and now producing and manufacturing under the brand name of Batman. This way, Batman has expanded their business in US market. Franchising This can be consider as a more sophisticated form of licensing where the franchisor has the greater authority and insists the franchisee to agree to abide by the strict rules as to how it does the business. Here the mother company has the right to make any decision and the franchisee has to obey the proposed decision (Forte and Carvalho 2013). Franchising strategy of McDonald is the best example for explaining where McDonald set rules for the franchisee in their operation. They have the complete control over the menu, staffing policies, design, and location of the restaurant and the cooking method. They also controls the supply chain in any given market. Critical analysis According to Grnig and Morschett (2012), analyses market entry modes over different industries and came to conclusion that the non-equity mode of entry is the second best entry mode possibly utilized by the organizations next to export. It is due to the risk factors in investing in a foreign unknown market. Licensing and franchising are both are potential entry method that minimizes the risk of entering a new market lowering the capital investment in the market. However, potential threats are observed as they loses their partial power of decision-making. It can sometimes, reduce the quality of the products and services offered under the companys brand name. Possible conflicts are inevitable in this type of entry method. Salar and Salar (2014) however, identified various advantages and disadvantages of using franchising as a mode of entry in an unknown culture. The advantages lies in he cost and risk factors. The risk factors that play important role in internationalization is considerable low than the equity mode of entry. The cost and the risk involved in this mode is minimal and near to none. This enables the company to invest in the foreign market. However, there ae some vital risk factors that plays significant role in franchising and licensing. The risk factors in both the cases are quite similar due to their similarities in nature. The company has less control in this process of entry in the international market. The power is vested in the hands of the franchisee to make necessary decision. Hence, there is possible risk in quality compromisation and brand image. Moreover, they cannot utilize the profit generated from one market to support the company in danger in other market. In addition to i t, a potential conflict always lies within due to the gap between the ideas and desires of both the franchisor and franchisee. According to Asarpota (2014), various issues will be present at all times with the use of franchising as an entry mode. They are similar to the statements of other researchers. However, the potential advantages that lies in front should also be address as they minimalizes the cost of operation in the foreign market. This Equity based Method Equity based method is nothing but the use of foreign direct investment by the firm for competing internationally in the modern global economy. The firms using this method secure greatest level of control over its proprietary information (Shieh and Wu 2012). There are many types of equity based methods, but the most common are joint ventures and green field investments. Joint Venture When a company enters in a foreign market making partnership with a local company and brings new product in the market, it is called joint venture. There can be two types of joint venture, which are specialized joint venture and shared value joint venture When the companies come together with their specific skills and combine them for creating something out of it, it is specialized joint venture. For example, Japanese electronics company Sony and Swedish telecommunication company Ericsson came together to create mobile phones. On the other hand, in shared vale venture, both the companies contribute to the same function. Example of Fuji-Xerox is best to explain this, where both the companies shared their knowledge of design, production and marketing. Greenfield Investment In this mode of entry, the company gets to keep the 100% ownership of stock and share. A company can start their business in a foreign country from the scratch. The cost and the risk factors are potentially high in this kind of internationalization. The company has to establish from factory build stores in the foreign market all by themselves (Meyer and Thaijongrak 2013). Toyota is seeking to apply Greenfield entry mode in the Mexican market. Critical analysis Various advantages and disadvantages are sited over the past few decades in equity entry mode of business organizations in alien culture. Tseng and Lee (2010) suggested that joint ventures are more preferable mode of internalization than the rest of the equity modes, It is primarily due to the risk factors and cost required in setting up a business in a foreign country. Joint venture reduces the possible risk factors while giving the company a level of influence over the strategies of the business. Shieh and Wu (2012) in their report shows that the FDI in Vietnam market shows a degree of advantages due to their FDI policies. The multinational companies from the middle Asia finds a fruitful advantage to expand their business in Vietnam because of their favourable political environment. The risk factors in this particular case is comparatively low to other sectors of the world. Similarities can be found in case of Rwanda where the foreign direct policy gives the investors a degree of liberation in their operation (Byigero, Clancy and Skutsch 2010). According to Rugmans (2010) analysis of electric theory of internationalization, FDI shows potential advantages in the international business on the grounds of ownership, location, and internalization. The company gets to retain their full authority in their business in the foreign settings. However, potential risk constantly lies in front for the uncertainty in expanding business in the foreign grounds. The cost and risk factors are considerably high in equity based entry mode where the chances of loss is far greater than any other mode of entry (Rugman 2010). Lpez-Duarte and Vidal-Surez (2010) identified the political and cultural complication in FDI. These dilemmas are capable of bring severe impact on the business organization. Recommendation and Conclusion Various political, socio-cultural economic and technological factors play significant role while selecting any mode of entry in specific market in developing country. Different social and political dilemmas significantly influence the foreign investment in the country. Hence, it should be identified prior of making selection of entry mode. For example, there are three factors that influence the selection of entry mode in the fashion retail market that are firm specific, country specific and market specific (Lu, Karpova and Fiore 2011). Hence, the companies should conduct thorough study to develop idea of the required entry mode for any specific market. The essay could be concluded with the statement, that export method is the best mode that can be used in the process of internationalization. The risk factors incorporated in this type is minimal. However, the companies need to look for FDI in order to sustain in he competitive market. Equity mode of entry favors FDI carries the highest possible risk in for a business with potential to deliver maximum profit. On the other hand, non-equity mode proposes low risk in business, but there is a potential threat of losing unique identity, as they have to share their technology with the licensee or the franchisee. Moreover, not every retail industry can incorporate every entry mode in every developing market. Entry mode is always selected based on several political, economical, socio-cultural factors and the type of retail industry. Example of eh MNC and fashion industry mentioned in the discussion shows that MNC requires a equity mode of entry as the political and socio-cultural effect is l ow, Whereas, the fashion industry needs enter the market with the franchising mode as the socio-cultural factor plays an important role in clothing. Moreover, the discussion reflects that both Vietnam and Rwanda has favorable FDI policies, which makes the industry to go for it to generate maximum profit. References Asarpota, J., 2014. According to Laforet (2011, p. 381), extensive studies and research have been done innovation in SMEs. Studies and researches have focused on innovation and its impacts on the financial performance of businesses, and the results of innovation on business. However, much remains unknown on how SMEs could achieve succes sful innovation. This little known concept is the basis of this research proposal. Literature Review Many studies have shown that innovation in business organization exists in three key streams: product, process and organization (Massa Testa 2008, p. 393). Much of the available literatures have described innovation as the commercialization of an invention. Studies have also identified the attributes of innovation and classified them as either contents or intensity. Massa and Testa (2008, p. 394) note that the contents classes of innovation include product and process, technological and architectural, as well as administrative and technical. Intensity, on the other hand, includes such concepts as incremental or radical, continuous or discontinuous, evolutionary or revolutionary, and minor or major among other classes. Despite the availability of immense literature on the same, little remains known on how SMEs could successfully achieve these classes of innovation. According to Lafor et (2011, p. 390), the major factors driving innovation in SMEs include the good attitude towards innovation, market environment, competition, customers needs, organization growth, and the management. Other factors from his study are business model, profitability, desire to improve working conditions, the life cycle of products, as well as the need for quality among other factors. Laforet posits that the positive outcomes of innovation consist of market advantage, operational excellence, and employee satisfaction. In addition, improved financial performance, organization image and reputation, in-house expertise and technical know-how, acquisition of skilled human resources, as well as sustained innovation (Laforet 2011, p. 398).Advertising Looking for essay on business economics? It also helped Abraham Lincoln justify the abolition of slavery. The Declaration of Independence was helpful to many people during the antebellum period, but helped Abraham Lincoln and the slaves the most. Many people that knew him felt if anyone could eliminate slavery he would be the one. This document signed on July 4, 1776 stated that everyone human has certain inalienable rights and freedoms. Many of the rights implied in the Declaration of Independence were being denied to African Americans. For example, being unjustifiably enslaved by another, taking away ones representation, and denying ones independence to manage their own affairs were just a few. The injustice of ignoring the application of these rights to African Americans gave great support to Abraham Lincoln in eliminating slavery based on the words of our Founding Fathers. One example of some of the injustices committed in the time of slavery was represented by a statement Lincoln was quoted as saying, "There was someone murdered almost everyday thanks to slavery, but no one ha d a trial for murdering a slave." Right of a trial was one of many rights identify in the Declaration of Independence and later the Constitution to help correct for injustices committed in our society. You can say the slaves were getting the same help Lincoln was a true understanding of what the Declaration of Independence was about and how it applied to all men, not just a select few. Therefore, Abraham Lincoln needed to abolish slavery to uphold the values of the Declaration of Independence and the slaves exemplify this. Without the Declaration of Independence, President Lincoln may not have had the justification to end slavery; even winning the Civil War might've not stopped slavery. ... elenawilliahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00456235223446236455noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3864983788987346431.post-13943385649897311692020-02-20T19:42:00.001-08:002020-02-20T19:42:03.859-08:00Future strategy for next three years (Starbucks) EssayFuture strategy for next three years (Starbucks) - Essay Example The government policies on trade are consistent and there is no government change expected in the coming years. This means that a strategy can be devised confidently to expand the business, keeping in view the government policies. Taxes may be reduced after the troops pull out of Afghanistan. This would increase the margin of profit for Starbucks. Though the world is facing economic recession, the company is still doing well as it deals in products which are of daily use and cannot be skipped by most people (Faulkner 1995).à . The factor which needs to be taking into consideration is that other brands have emerged and are emerging which can pose tough competition to Starbucks. Another factor which may contribute to lesser profits is that the public is becoming more aware of health issues like obesity and their cautious attitudes can make them stop using products high in fats such as pastries etc. This will have a negative effect on the business. Some of the factors discussed above provide opportunities for the company like reduction of taxes and availability of technology, while others pose threats like competition and health consciousness by the consumers. Keeping in mind these factors, the strategy would be formulated which would make use of the opportunities to overcome the threats posed to the company and make the company grow bigger. The business strategy would include steps like improving productivity, altering the price to defeat competition, and innovation in sitting environment to attract customers. The corporate objectives would be to make the company an outstanding International retailer. Furthermore, the team should be built and well trained to create more value (Warner 2010).à . 2.0 SWOT Analysis STRENGTHS It is a leader in... Starbucks is leading the world in its Italian style drinks and provides high quality standard drinks and coffee. In addition, itââ¬â¢s also providing accessories and confections throughout its retail stores. It is a recognized brand providing best services and best tastes with broad distribution throughout the globe. Although weaknesses and threats are there but are mild enough and can be ignored and opportunities and strengths are far ahead which would significantly boast the sales of the company in a positive way. Starbucks is a well recognized company which has more opportunities than threats. In the near future it is expected by the Starbucks Company to be flourishing in a big market, as its policies are clear and tight. It wouldnââ¬â¢t compromise on its quality, services and care for employees and workers but most probably would cut down its profits if the situation arises, which are the standard policies of a successful sustainable company. elenawilliahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00456235223446236455noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3864983788987346431.post-25523270765161041172020-02-05T00:12:00.001-08:002020-02-05T00:12:02.673-08:00Management Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words - 3Management - Essay Example 2005). This phenomenon creates an integrated world economy where production, trading and selling of goods and services reach beyond national and territorial boundaries. More than 40 years ago, economist and managers all over the world have been highlighting the vital role of state in the process of economic development. Most of them pointed out that unregulated markets, left to their own devices would polarize the distribution of income where small and medium size companies will be suck-up into corporate giants. To some extent, this would create confusion, panics, crises, recessions, and depressions. Along this same line of framework, in order to survive, corporations and businesses would need to find more innovative strategies to cope with the emerging industrialization and economic developments. The pressure is now on the hands of international managers as how they can strengthen their companies in order to face the difficult changes of a highly competitive and open market. A key factor that often puts companies out of business is competition. This is a major headache among business managers and planners. However, on the positive side, competitors are essential to spur companies to strive to do better. Although competitors have a potential of derailing a business, they are also indispensable learning tools for managers who want to get ahead of the competition-both today and for the future. By replicating and enhancing the strategies of the opponent, one can beat the other in their own game. Before a manager takes a move, an inventory of competitors should be taken. In order to gain an upper hand, it is not enough that we study the competitor. We have to learn to anticipate their responses to certain situations through the use of game theory, simulations, scenario planning and conjoint analysis. This would broaden your range of options for reacting to moves of the competitor. Also, a deep understanding on how changes in technology and public policy can elenawilliahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00456235223446236455noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3864983788987346431.post-43504167985505692512020-01-27T20:34:00.001-08:002020-01-27T20:34:03.948-08:00Geographical and Cultural Overview of the USGeographical and Cultural Overview of the US Stephanie Cheah Introduction: The USA plays a very big role in our daily lives. Everything that we do is somehow connected to the United States, from our smartphones, to the value of money in our wallets, and even the laptop this project is being typed on. In this paper, all aspects of the United States will be explored. Its physical geography, population, industry, role as a superpower, and issues that they are facing. The USA is a very prominent country not only in the areas mentioned above, but in its physical size and population. Being the third largest country in the world in land mass and the third largest country in population, the USA has a very diverse society. They are also the leaders in many aspects of our lives, practically controlling our lives across the globe. 1. The physical features of the USA The USA covers 3.806 million sq miles (9.857 million kmà ²). It is the third largest country in the world, after Russia and its neighbours Canada. Relief The eastern part of the USA is low and flat, excluding the Appalachian Mountains, which are low rounded highlands. The western half is much higher, with more mountain ranges running down from Alaska to Mexico. The Central Plains are gently rolling plains, and the Great Plains are slightly higher. Both combined form an important farming region for cattle and crops such as wheat, corn and soyabean. Mountains There are four major mountains in the United States: the Rocky Mountains, Appalachian Mountains, Cascade Range, and the Sierra Nevada. The Rocky Mountains: They run 3000 miles from western Canada to the state of New Mexico. They also include numerous sub ranges, such as the Wasatch, Bitterroots, Big Horn, and Front Ranges. The Appalachian Mountains: Situated in the eastern United States, they stretch from Alabama northeast across New England, and extending up to Canada. The Cascades: The Cascade Range along the West Coast of the United States extend from Canada into the US states of Washington, Oregon, and California. These mountains were formed as part of the Pacific Ring of Fire, and have volcanoes, including Mount St. Helens and Lassen. Sierra Nevada The Sierra Nevada mountains, located in the states of California and Nevada, are about 400 miles long. The name Sierra Nevada is Spanish for snowy mountains, because of the snow-capped peaks of the range. Many of the mountains are formed of granite, and shaped by glaciers. The tallest mountain in the United States in Mt McKinley, at 20,320 feet, in the Alaska range. Rivers There are approximately 250,000 rivers, adding up to about 3,500,000 miles (or 5,632,704km) of rivers. The Missouri (a tributary of the Mississippi River) is the longest river in the USA which is 2540 miles (4088km) long. In terms of volume, the Mississippi River is largest. Together they form the fourth longest river in the world, which is almost 7000km long. The longest undammed river is the Yellowstone river, which is 692 miles (1113km) long. Lakes The Great Lakes are the largest group of lakes in the world. Four of them are shared with Canada. 2. USAââ¬â¢s climate As USA has a large land mass, it has a wide range of climates. In Alaska, much of the land is tundra, and where it is not, it is cold and drier. At the south as well as Hawaii, there is tropical climate, meaning that it has warm summers and mild winters. In the south west, it is mostly desert, which are made out of stony soil and low shrubs. The Sonoran is the hottest, but it has cool winters. Large land masses heat up fast in summer and cool fast in winter. The further inland you go, the more drastic the temperature difference will be between summer and winter. Climate Regions There are nine climate regions in the USA: Central, East North Central, Northeast, Northwest, South, Southeast, Southwest, West and West North Central. Below is a diagram of the average temperatures: The west side of the country is the coldest, while the south is much warmer. The hottest states are in the South and East North Central. 2. Population of USA The USA has a population of approximately 324,490,000 people. There has been a fast but steady increase in the population of the USA over 25 years. This is comprised out of many diverse ethnicities which are shown in the diagrams below. Racial/Ethnic Mix Over 25 years, there has been an increase of approximately 53,000 people in the total population. The USA has seen a rise the general non-white population, with the exception of the Indian population, which has remained constant throughout the 25 years, and the ââ¬Å"Otherâ⬠category, which saw a decrease from 2005 to 2015. White remains the ethnicity with the largest population, while the Hispanic population is the second largest. For the convenience of the reader, a pie chart has been created to illustrate the above statistics. 3. Population Distribution The Eastern side of the USA is more densely populated compared to the west. However, it is rather densely populated along the west coast, as shown in the diagram above. The most densely populated cities are New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Houston and Philadelphia. Possible reasons to why these cities are more densely populated are: Their geographic locations make it a suitable place to trade and live comfortably. The most populous cities in the US are located near a body of water, have a (preferably) mild climate and easy access to natural resources. Water was the easiest way to transport goods before the Industrial Revolution, and it also allowed the movement of ideas. It also made it easier for immigrants to arrive there, considering their mode of transport was also water. 4. The automotive industry Henry Ford was the man who started up Americaââ¬â¢s automotive industry. Although he did not invent the motor car, he was the first to set up a factory producing low-cost cars that virtually anyone could afford. His first fatory was in Detroit, Michigan. He picked a good pace to set up his first factory. Detroit is located in an area known as the ââ¬Ëmanufacturing beltââ¬â¢. This place had lots of steel works, an abundance of workers, and a large number of nearby customers. He started with the Ford Model T, which was launched on 1 October 1908. It soon gained popularity, and sold 15 million Model Ts across the world. Mr Henry Ford was keen on globalisation as well. Within 20 years of opening his first factory, he set up plants in the UK, Canada, France, India, Germany and Australia. However, the American car industry is not experiencing the same success it did years ago. The Big Three American companies: Ford, General Motors and Chrysler, are selling less and less cars, mostly due to competition from other foreign car companies. The downfall started in the 1970s, when there were too many cars and the USAââ¬â¢s oil deposits were being used up and oil had to be imported. US car companies continues to lose money when Japan began to export smaller and cheaper cars to the USA. Now with even more cars on the road, it increases the air pollution and there is pressure to come up with cars that limit carbon emissions, by creating cars that run on fuel other than petrol. 5. Agriculture industry The USA is the worldââ¬â¢s top exporter and the most productive in the history of the world. Thanks to the USAââ¬â¢s large land mass and range of climates, many crops are able to grow there. The two main crops grown there are wheat and corn, and rearing livestock also brings a lot of business. What makes the American farmers so productive is the fact that they have plenty of fertile flat land, which is suitable for growing crops and the usage of large machinery. Apart from this, there are large mechanised farms which often specialise in only one type of crop. They also use chemicals such as fertilisers to aid the plantââ¬â¢s growth. increase the yield and pesticides to protect the crops. They also lead in crop research. Through genetic modification, scientists have developed plants that can grow in a hostile environment. Lastly, the US government pays subsidies to farmers to encourage them. California is also famous for farming. It produces all types of fruit and vegetables, including grapes. Rearing cattle and selling milk is also big business, as well as growing rice and cotton. However, there is a huge debate going on about what Americaââ¬â¢s limited water should be used for. As 11% of Americaââ¬â¢s cropland depends on irrigation, it means that it takes up a lot of water. In fact, it takes up half of the USAââ¬â¢s water consumption. 6. The American Dream The American Dream is a belief that everyone in the USA has an equal chance to succeed regardless of their ethnicity or their background. This is what has led thousands of people over to the USA. Many people are drawn to the USA as there is not only the belief of the American Dream, but there is opportunity there. They go there for better education for their children. Most go there to find work, whether they are highly-skilled, or if they lack education and are willing to work hard and build a better life. Here is an example of an American Dream that did come true: ââ¬Å"Ursula Burns The CEO ofXeroxfaced numerous struggles to arrive atop that company. Raised by a single mother a Panamanian immigrant in a New York City housing project, she attended parochial school and discovered an aptitude for math and figures. While she was pointed by teachers toward a traditional womans career such as nursing, she made another calculation: What high-paying work was available with the degree she knew she could get in math or science? She attended Polytechnic Institute of New York and Columbia University with that in mind.â⬠Unfortunately, while the American Dream does come true for some, others arenââ¬â¢t as lucky. Thousands who arrive from their native countries migrate in the hopes of getting a better education or occupation, but the only thing they are met with is homelessness. To quote the New York Times: ââ¬Å"Oscar was a shy 15-year-old when his parents hired a local ââ¬Ëcoyoteââ¬â¢ in July 2008 to help him leave Veracruz, Mexico, and cross the border to seek work in the United States. Jorge, gregarious, bright-eyed and also 15, gathered up his 6-year-old cousin six months later and left Tegucigalpa, Honduras, in the middle of the night, to escape abuse that he said had escalated into fistfights with his father. He also planned to work and send money back to his mother. Without knowing it, both were headed toward homelessness. In that, they joined thousands of other immigrant children who have left their native country ââ¬â for work, family reunification or refuge ââ¬â crossed into the United States and wound up alone.â⬠Is the American Dream just a fantasy? Or is it something that is real, and we know will definitely come to us? I find that both statements are wrong. The Dream is very much alive, but like it is, after all, still a dream. Not all dreams will come true. 7. Physical Geography of California The state of California covers a land area of 163,973 square miles and 7,734 square miles of water. California is the third largest state in the US and has over 1,200 miles of coastline. There are three major mountain ranges in California: the Klamath Mountains, Cascade Mountains and the Sierra Nevada Mountains. To the south-east extreme of California is the Mojave Desert which covers over 25,000 square miles of Californian territory. Vegetation is sparse and most of the region is at an elevation of more than 2,000 feet above sea level. The Central Valley is long, flat and sheltered, and the Death Valley is the hottest part of the Mojave Desert, which can reach temperatures up to 50à °C in the summer. Most of California enjoys mild climate and equitable rainfall. The coastal regions can get rather cold in winter months. The desert regions are low on rainfall and the temperature soars up to 130à °F (54à °C). The cities of Los Angeles and San Diego have average temperatures ranging between 50à °F (10à °C)and 60à °F (15à °C) and are very pleasant. This area is also affected by the presence of many earthquake causing fault lines. The San Andreas Fault, running through California, is a major fault line. 8. Issues the USA is facing Environmental Issues Due to the USA being located where two plates meet, the west coast is prone to earthquakes and volcano eruptions. On the south east side, hurricanes often occur, as it is near to the Atlantic Ocean. Tornadoes are also a frequent occurrence, especially in spring and summer. In addition to this, droughts are common throughout the whole of the USA. This is caused by low rainfall, which also leads to wildfires. To make matters worse, people have been pumping too much water from rivers and aquifers. Social issues While the American Dream is based on the idea that everyone has an equal chance, one aspect is certainly false. According to the statistics, far more non-whites have been arrested and persecuted. Studies have shown that a non-white person (eg. Black, Hispanic) was more likely to be stopped and frisked. In New York City, 80% of the stops made were blacks and Latinos, and 85% of those people were frisked, compared to a mere 8% of white people stopped. In the year 2010, it was reported by the US Sentencing Commission that whites faced a 10% shorter sentence compared to their black counterparts. While these numbers could possibly be justified as the non-white community happening to commit more crime, it should not be that a survey in 2011 revealed that 52% of non-Hispanic whites expressed anti-Hispanic attitudes. Although one may argue that the first black president, Barack Obama, was elected in 2009, this does nothing to disguise the fact that coloured people are still facing discrimination against them. Economic Issues The US no longer produce what we need to sustain themselves. Instead, they import much more than they export. As they are not making enough profit, they take on colossal debts to maintain their high standard of living. The US does not acknowledge that other countries are undermining them. For example, Chinaââ¬â¢s currency manipulation has cost the U.S. millions of jobs. Instead we encourage U.S. manufacturers to design, engineer, and produce in third world markets like Mexico and China, making the problem even worse. 9. The USA as a superpower Why is it a superpower? The United States of America is not only a powerful nation economically; it is also one in the fields of science and technology. The USA receives the highest number of immigrants per year (approximately 1 million), a leader in technology, business, movies and tertiary education. It has the highest GDP (Gross Domestic Product) in the entire world, almost twice that of the next highest. However, the United States of America is a huge spender, particularly on their military. They also spend the most of the worldââ¬â¢s military spending, almost half of the total. The USAââ¬â¢s powerful military contributes largely to them being a superpower. During the two World Wars, there was a struggle for power, initially with the European ââ¬Å"great powersâ⬠such as the United Kingdom, Russians, Austria-Hungary to name a few, then to one global empire (Great Britain), Japan, and currently the United States. After World War II, two superpowers emerged: the United States and the Soviet Union. They were both so heavily armed that engaging in direct war with each other could possibly destroy our civilisation. They also have a huge influence on our modern culture. They are the leaders for entertainment such as television shows, movies, music, food, fashion and plenty other things. Almost everything we do today, from what clothes we wear, to what music we listen to, or what digital device we use is all influenced by the US. References: US Rivers EnchantedLearning.com. (n.d.). Priestley was an English writer, who was born in Bradford. He served in the infantry during world war one, then afterwards attended Cambridge University. As a newspaper essayist and journalist, he wrote on a variety of subjects, then the publication of "The Good Companions" in 1929 led to his establishment as a writer. At the beginning of the play, Sheila seems to be fairly naive and acts like a younger girl. We see this when she talks to Gerald about the previous summer and his dissappearance. When Gerald explains that he was "awfully busy at the works all that time", we see that Gerald finds Sheila to be naive in that she believes Gerald was really working for all that time. We also see that Sheila is possesive of Gerald when she says that she would hate for him to become an expert on port "like one of those purple faced old men". Sheila's relationship with Eric is completely different, and we see that they are always arguing with each other or calling each other names. For example when Eric lets out the laugh during the dinner party, Sheila calls him "squiffy", or later on when she says "Don't be an ass, Eric." This seems to be a petty sibling rivalry. Sheila appears to get on very well with Mrs Birling. There never seems to be any aggression between the two, just polite conversation. Also, Sheila seems to agree with her mother most of the time , which we see when Mrs Birling objects to her husband talking about work, Sheila says "Neither do I. All wrong." Sheila seems to have a different relationship wit... ....: Through the course of the play Sheila slowly changes from a spoilt little rich snob into a mature young lady. She begins to share the inspectors' views on Edwardian society and brings about a few of her own views. The purpose of Priestly writing 'An Inspector Calls' was to get his views about Edwardian society across England. Using the inspector he criticizes The social order of Edwardian society. So any comment made by the inspector is a comment made by JB Priestly. Conclusion I have been able to successfully answer the essay question using Sheila Birling as my character to show how members of the Birling family changed. JB Priestly reveals the injustice that occurred in Edwardian society. He shows the audience that the upper class people of Edwardian society were consequently not the respectable upright citizens that their class positions would have implied. elenawilliahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00456235223446236455noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3864983788987346431.post-3512708216893253702020-01-11T13:21:00.001-08:002020-01-11T13:21:04.369-08:00Human Resource Professional EssayActivity 1 The Human Resource Professional (HRP) Map displays a clear idea about the required HR skills, knowledge and behaviour to lead the organization to successes. The HRP Map covering of 10 professional areas, 8 behaviours and 4 bands. Sarah Miles (2009), CIPD organizational development director, said: ââ¬Å"This is a complete rethink of professional standards, not just a simple face-lift, and thatââ¬â¢s not something you can turn around in a short time. â⬠Human resource professional areas describes what HRs need to know (knowledge) and what need to do (Activities) at four bands of professional capability in each HR professional area. The core professional areas of the HRP Map are Strategy, Insights and Solutions and Leading and Managing the Human Resource function. These are necessary for HRs in their main roles either in organization or in developing themselves. Each behaviour is explained at the four bands of professional capability and lists a number of contra indicators which show negative behaviour. They are 8 which are collaborative, courage to challenge, curious, decisive thinker, driven to deliver, personally credible, role model and skilled influencer. My own selected professional area is the need to improve organization Development for Native Consultancy, Information Technology Company. The Activates, knowledge and behaviour at Band 1 which are most essential to my own HR role are in three points: * Knows employment law and discrimination law, in local and international rule and what the organization needs to do to prevent and monitor the risks. And curious ââ¬â Is curious and open-minded; seeks out innovative ways to add value to the organisation. Activity 2 To understand the needs of the customers and level of satisfaction, the HR have to continually monitor the needs and how it has been meeting those needs and recognaize any areas that has gaps. This way of analysis will find out the real view of the customersââ¬â¢ needs and will guide the HR professional to balance several perspective and determining which get priority. ââ¬Å"For instance, managers may value high levels of production and long work hours whereas employees may value more time off and a focus on work/life needs. Effective HR customer service will work with both groups to find the right balanceâ⬠Leigh Richards (2012), eHow Contributor. The customers verify in two types, internal and external. Here we will consider the internal customers for its direct effects on the company and its ongoing processes as employees, managers and technicians. Their needs are differ as training, reports, CVs, tools and hardware and sometime conflict with others. In the divergent of the customers need; the HR professional have to take accurate and impartial clear decision on that. The HR choice will depend on the most important and effective on the organization in a timely manner as the training in the development of new strategy or plan before other needs. To communicate effectively in the organization between customers; e-mails, chats (WhatsApp/BlackBerry/Skype) and direct phone calls are most useful. The most common solutions are Listening, Solving and being polite. Firstly listening to what the customer has to say and ask for as many details as possible. Classify the problem. Then offer a solution before other requests one within a clear policy to know how far you are willing to go for solving the complaints. Be thankful and polite while listening and solving the problem. Be careful on the tone used and body language to solve the problem effectively. Difficult employees display behaviors that can be uncomfortable and backfired to the goals of the organization. The behaviors of a difficult employee can range from stable conversation to rejection to complete the job tasks and its responsibilities. Other difficult behaviors include neglect of colleagues and waste of company belongings. It is important for managers to identify, walk in and stop the actions of difficult employees before more harm is done. Bathing, a seemingly common practice for modern day inhabitants, is a process that shaped the culture of Ancient Rome, and established a deeper insight into the way Ancient Romans conducted their everyday lives. Originating from Ancient Greece, the Romans took the concept of personal hygiene to a different, and more grandiose level; and by doing so established a unique practice which set Rome apart from any other ancient civilization at the time. The ideas and customs exhibited from the bathing process lingered on to the modern world, as parallels between Rome and the modern world are clearly evident. Bathing was a practice that was devised long before the establishment of Ancient Rome. The earliest forms of western bathing originated from Greece when Greeks began to utilize bathing practices by operating small bathtubs, foot baths, and wash basins for their own cleanliness. Having access to such instruments was considered to be luxurious, as the earliest of these findings were found in palaces located in Crete and Santorini. Within gymnasium complexes, public showers and baths were used for relaxation and hygiene. Besides being used for personal hygiene, the Greeks believed that certain natural springs were blessed by the Gods to cure disease, making certain pools considered to be sacred. Bathing facilities were established around these pools and attracted those who wished to be healed. As a result, crime and criminal behaviour can be explained using a broad set of theories presented by scholars with the focus ranging from the individual offender to the offenderââ¬â¢s environment and external influences. White-collar crime coined by Edwin Sutherland, for example, is a crime committed by a person of respectability and high social status in the course of his occupation (Tatham, 2016). The case of Stratton Oakmont in the 1990s is an example highlighting the complexity of white-collar crime and contributes to its understanding. Jordan Belfort, founder of Stratton Oakmont, was found guilty of securities fraud and money laundering, both of which are types of white-collar crime. Fraud, according to Benson and Simpson (2015), is a crime in which a professional uses his or her superior knowledge and expertise to take advantage of something. Over the course of their occupation, the brokers at Stratton Oakmont used their knowledge and expertise to deceive their clients and inflate the prices of stocks under Belfortââ¬â¢s instruction. Ultimately, this fraudulent activity led to Belfortââ¬â¢s and Stratton Oakmontââ¬â¢s illegal financial success. Explanations of general crime can be applied to white-collar crime. Since the beginning of time societies have existed, thriving among mankind. Societies dictate norms and regulations for the people living within them by establishing a status quo. Since the status quo exists, a large majority of people alter their actions and words they do and say to fit the societal norm, the status quo in order to seem ââ¬Å"normalâ⬠. As common as a status quo is to societies, so is the reality of a rebel: someone who goes against the status quo, such as Antigone. Societies also have people who overly conform, in turn suffering negative consequences, such as Eve. If a comparison of both works (Antigone and Paradise Lost) are taken, it will remain obvious that Antigone materializes as a stronger, more self-independent character who is against the societal norms, whereas Eve lacks enough inner strength and willpower to avoid conforming to the origin of the n egativity of social norms. In general, society is not an evil device to have a part in, rather, it is completely normal. If an individual lives in a community, neighborhood, city, town, village, etc., they belong in a society. Societies provide ââ¬Å"chaos managementâ⬠; they keep people supposedly in line and provide rules. Answer: Introduction The following paper focuses on the fact of the different issues that arose within the organization. The organization chosen to complete this assignment is Yellow Auto. This organization has been regarded as the car dealer of the famous automobile company, Renault. As Renaiult has a good worldwide market and it dominates most of the regions in many countries, the same goes with Turkey too. The company Yellow Auto was designed to help the customers who thrive for automobile industry parts. The customers have been increasing in the place they had operated. The area that they served was Bergama, which was a small town near Izmir, considered as one of the biggest cities in Turkey. The condition was much favorable for the company as they got good profits. Later on, problems began to arise and it affected the productivity and sales (Chan, Li Pierce, 2014). These things hampered the companys growth rate as a whole. The problems that arose in this situation will have to be discussed in this paper. Identification of problems The Yellow Auto had been facing many problems that had affected their business in large ways. These problems had cause great losses and hampered their profit in great many ways. The situations turned in such a way that the style of leadership of their top leader Can Sale. According to the case study, the two sons of the founder Deniz Sale took over the business and they took control of the management of the company. The two sons, Can Sale and Caner Sale had put their assertion in the management procedure so distinctively that the decisions and the opinions of the employees and the heads of other departments were scarcely looked after (Blankenship, 2017). As a result, some serious problems had begun to arise within the company. The employees were not at all satisfied with the ways they were treated. They wanted more freedom to take important decisions so they could justify their job positions (Mowday, Porter Steers, 2013). The numerous problems that had arisen had its root in the wrong management processes that was occupied by the top management consultant Can Sale. His daughter Asli Sale was given the duty of the sales director after it was noticed that she was worthy of working with people. These problems were of different kinds like cultural, technological and based on structure as well. Cultural issues Here, the cultural issues define the problems and issues that arose because of adopting a wrong organizational culture (Alvesson, 2017). Any company that adopts a wrong organizational culture suffers from different managerial problems on the long run. At the beginning when Can and Caner Sale took over the management control from their father, they had set up the structure and the departments in a good manner. They had employed more employees that counted up to 52 as they shifted their company to Izmir. The different departments that were divided between the employees were general administration, sales, marketing, in-store sales, active sales and many others (Tanner Raymond, 2012). These departments were designed to act effectively and make profits for the company. Unfortunately, the departments could not cooperate with each other and the Can Sale used to interfere all the matters regarding any issue. The employees and the managers had a lack of understanding and communication between them. The employees even bypassed Asli Sale and wanted to work directly with Can Sale as they knew Can Sale would interfere in their works at a point of time. The in-store sales team and the active sales team had a conflict between them that added fuel to the burning issue of communication problems. The employees were also not satisfied with the physical conditions of the warehouse and the office. They were discontent about the job satisfaction as well. The customers were also not happy with the behav ior of the employees of the company (Sirianni et al., 2013). Technological problems There were some technological problems in the organization as well. The job roles of the sales team employees indicated them to make the calls to the potential customers and take the replies of the customers on note. These things would help them to keep a register of their progress in capturing the market. On the contrary, these phone calls were of no use because those phone calls could not be monitored effectively. The regular phone calls were not useful as well since the entire database of the company was backdated (Cherry Jacob, 2016). The physical condition of the organization was very unhygienic and the heating and ventilation system of the company was not proper as well. No technological support was sought by the top management. The inventory control in the modern times has to be computerized but this was not the case there (Cherry Jacob, 2016). There were no computers to manage the inventory control. As a result of this, there always seemed to be missing parts in the inventory counts as they were either lost or stolen. On the other hand, spare parts personnel were unable to know the exact inventory levels. The repair of the spare parts was delayed because of these problems. Structural problems Some problems in the structure of the organization were also being faced by the Yellow Auto. The company could not imply the proper policies for the customers as well as for the employees. The structure was divided into many parts but the confusion had arisen between them so the conflicts were there as well (Hill, Cronk Wickramasekera, 2013). Yellow Auto could not follow the rules and regulations dictated by the Renault in the issues of financial reporting, customer satisfaction, achieving the target sales and many more. They could not set their target segmentation markets effectively that resulted in the loss of customers. If they had set those things properly, they would have set their target audience by their age, education and income level. The employees were not properly educated for the job roles they were performing then. The sales department became the rivals of each other and the same thing occurred between the after-sale services and spare-parts departments. The change within the company began from 2001 with the help of the management experts and a team of academicians (Hayes, 2014). The change for good was always welcome and the employees would feel better if the conditions improved within the organization. The team spirit had to be improved and the participation of the employees and the other departmental heads had to be taken into account as suggested by the expert tea. This type of change must be transformational rather than transactional. If the employees would be given the exact tasks according to their expertise, they would be benefitted highly (Belbin, 2012). It is almost without any doubt that the employees should not show any kind of resistance in the change within the company. The employees have been victims of much injustice within the company for the autocratic leadership of Can Sale. The employees have long been waiting for a change in the proceedings that have been prevalent in the past years (Boddy, 2014). This would give them the opportunity to do what they want and share their thoughts about the tasks to be performed. This free minded thought process of the employees would be very helpful indeed. This is why they have welcomed this change. There have been many benefits of working with the management experts as the external change agents. Those experts have a high degree of qualification to direct on how they could change the management running systems to develop the conditions in this critical challenging scenario. This would be very interesting indeed. The experts have sorted out some ways about the ways to change the management process and improve it (Goetsch Davis, 2014). The improvement in the management includes participation of the employees in the decision making process, the job satisfaction of the employees is an interesting fact that the employees are much concerned about. The employees will feel relieved as they will be able to view their important opinions (Goetsch Davis, 2014). Summary of the entire matter The entire case study has focused about the different issues and challenges in the Yellow Auto. The changes to curb these problems have been addressed in the case study as well. The different challenges include the cultural, technological and structural challenges. The organizational culture of Yellow Auto has many faults within itself. The top management consultant can Sale has not been able to direct the approaches in the proper way (Goetsch Davis, 2014). The technological problems include the absence of computers in the inventory control. The structural issues like the job dissatisfaction issues and other factors have been identified as well. The miscommunication between the employees and the management is also a relevant problem in the organization. Conclusion The paper can be concluded by saying that despite efforts from the management, Yellow Auto has been running in loss because of the different kinds of challenges addressed. The management of the company will be in great distress because they have directed their approaches in the wrong way. The technological approaches have to be well directed so that Yellow Auto can keep proper records of their new inventory. The employees have to be provided with job satisfaction and the leadership style has to be changed from autocratic to transformational. References Alvesson, M. Through no effort of there own, they have been isolated artificially from Brazilian social and economic influences that reach almost every other Indian tribe in Brazil. This unusual situation has made it possible for the Kalapalos culture to be undisturbed by the outside world and the surrounding tribes. Much of Kalapalo life is run through a central concept or an ideal of behavior, called ifutisu. This is an infinite ideological concept that is represented in many ways in social life and ideal organization among the Kalapalo. The area in which the Kalapalo live is in the northeastern Mato Grosso state called Upper Xingu Basin. There are four unintelligible languages by groups in this region. This makes the Upper Xingu Basin linguistically diverse, but with many of the groups still sharing the same social and ideological features. It is very difficult to trace back the origins of Kalapalo life because of the integration of the many different and culturally diverse groups in the Upper Xingu Basin. So, many of systems of kinship classification, marriage practices, ceremonial organizations, status allocation, and religious beliefs are consistent with cultural rules and social practices and not with the original system. Many of the modern local groups can only reconstruct their own history which is in limited detail, these systems cant be isolated completely from the existing society. The two most important social units in Upper Xingu society are the village and the household groups. Both the village and household can be considered corporate in that both control rights to territorial resources, acts as a unit when performing certain economic and ceremonial activities. Members of a household group are obligated to pass out food which they collect amongst themselves... elenawilliahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00456235223446236455noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3864983788987346431.post-83451835376725444332019-11-23T09:27:00.001-08:002019-11-23T09:27:03.867-08:00Battle of New Orleans in the War of 1812Battle of New Orleans in the War of 1812 The Battle of New Orleans was fought December 23, 1814-January 8, 1815, during the War of 1812 (1812-1815). Armies Commanders Americans Major General Andrew JacksonCommodore Daniel Pattersonapprox. 4,700-4,800 men British Major General Edward PakenhamVice Admiral Sir Alexander CochraneMajor General John Lambertapprox. 8,000-9,000 men Battle of New Orleans - Background In 1814, with the Napoleonic Wars concluding in Europe, Britain was free to focus its attention on fighting the Americans in North America. The British plan for the year called for three major offensives with one coming from Canada, another striking at Washington, and the third hitting New Orleans. While the thrust from Canada was defeated at the Battle of Plattsburgh by Commodore Thomas MacDonough and Brigadier General Alexander Macomb, the offensive in the Chesapeake region saw some success before being halted at Fort McHenry. A veteran of the latter campaign, Vice Admiral Sir Alexander Cochrane moved south that fall for the attack on New Orleans. Having embarked 8,000-9,000 men, under the command of Major General Edward Pakenham, a veteran of the Duke of Wellingtons Spanish campaigns, Cochranes fleet of around 60 ships arrived off Lake Borgne on December 12. In New Orleans, the defense of the city was tasked to Major General Andrew Jackson, commanding the Seventh Military District, and Commodore Daniel Patterson who oversaw the US Navys forces in the region. Working frantically, Jackson assembled around 4,700 men which included the 7th US Infantry, 58 US Marines, a variety of militia, Jean Lafittes Baratarian pirates, as well as free black and Native American troops (Map). Battle of New Orleans - Fighting on Lake Borgne Desiring to approach New Orleans through Lake Borgne and the adjacent bayous, Cochrane directed Commanderà Nicholas Lockyer to assemble a force of 42 armed longboats to sweep American gunboats from the lake.à Commanded by Lieutenant Thomas ap Catesby Jones, American forces on Lake Borgne numbered five gunboats and two small sloops of war.à Departing on December 12, Lockyers 1,200-man force located Jones squadron 36 hours later.à Closing with the enemy, his men were able to board the American vessels and overwhelm their crews.à Though a victory for British, the engagement delayed their advance and gave Jackson additional time to prepare his defenses.à Battle of New Orleans - The British Approach With the lake open, Major General John Keane landed on Pea Island and established a British garrison. Pushing forward, Keane and 1,800 men reached the east bank of the Mississippi River approximately nine miles south of the city on December 23 and encamped on the Lacoste Plantation. Had Keane continued his advance up the river, he would have found the road to New Orleans undefended.à Alerted to the British presence byà Colonel Thomas Hinds dragoons, Jackson reportedly proclaimedà By the Eternal, they shall not sleep on our soil and commenced preparations for an immediate strike against the enemy camp. Early that evening, Jackson arrived north of Keanes position with 2,131men.à Launching a three-pronged attack on the camp, a sharp fight ensued that saw American forces inflict 277 (46 killed) casualties while sustaining 213 (24 killed). Falling back after the battle, Jackson established a line along the Rodriguez Canal four miles south of the city at Chalmette. Though a tactical victory for Keane, the American attack put the British commander off balance, causing him to delay any advance on the city. Using this time, Jacksons men began fortifying the canal, dubbing it Line Jackson. Two days later, Pakenham arrived on the scene and was angered by the armys position opposite an increasingly strong fortification. Though Pakenham initially wished to move the army through the Chef Menteur Pass to Lake Pontchartrain, he was convinced by his staff to move against Line Jackson as they believed the small American force could be easily defeated. Repelling British probing attacks on December 28, Jacksons men began eight constructing batteries along the line and on the west bank of the Mississippi. These were supported by the sloop of war USS Louisiana (16 guns) in the river.à As Pakenhams main force arrived on January 1, an artillery duel began between the opposing forces. Though several American guns were disabled, Pakenham elected to delay his main attack. Battle of New Orleans - Pakenhams Plan For his main assault, Pakenham wished an attack on both sides of the river. A force under Colonel William Thornton was to cross to the west bank, assault the American batteries, and turn their guns on Jacksons line. As this occurred, the main body of the army would attack Line Jackson with Major General Samuel Gibbs advancing on the right, with Keane to his left. A smaller force under Colonel Robert Rennie would move forward along the river. This plan quickly ran into problems as difficulties arose getting the boats to move Thorntons men from Lake Borne to the river. While a canal had been constructed, it began to collapse and the dam intended to divert water into the new channel failed. As a result, the boats had to be dragged through the mud leading to a 12-hour delay. As a result, Thornton was late in crossing on the night of January 7/8 and the current forced him to land further downstream than intended. Despite knowing that Thornton would not be in place to attack in concert with the army, Pakenham elected to move forward. Additional delays soon occurred when Lieutenant Colonel Thomas Mullens 44th Irish Regiment, which was meant to lead Gibbs attack and bridge the canal with ladders and fascines, could not be found in the morning fog. With dawn approaching, Pakenham ordered the attack to begin. While Gibbs and Rennie advanced, Keane was further delayed. Battle of New Orleans - Standing Firm As his men moved onto the Chalmette plain, Pakenham hoped that the dense fog would provide some protection. This was soon dashed as the fog melted away under the morning sun. Seeing the British columns before their line, Jacksons men opened an intense artillery and rifle fire upon the enemy. Along the river, Rennies men succeeded in taking a redoubt in front of the American lines. Storming inside, they were halted by fire from the main line and Rennie was shot dead. On the British right, Gibbs column, under heavy fire, was approaching the ditch in front of the American lines but lacked the fascines to cross (Map). With his command falling apart, Gibbs was soon joined by Pakenham who led the wayward 44th Irish forward. Despite their arrival, the advance remained stalled and Pakenham was soon wounded in the arm. Seeing Gibbs men faltering, Keane foolishly ordered the 93rd Highlanders to angle across the field to their aid. Absorbing fire from the Americans, the Highlanders soon lost their commander, Colonel Robert Dale. With his army collapsing, Pakenham ordered Major General John Lambert to lead the reserves forward. Moving to rally the Highlanders, he was struck in the thigh, and then mortally wounded in the spine. The loss of Pakenham was soon followed by the death of Gibbs and the wounding of Keane. In a matter of minutes, the entirety of British senior command on the field was down. Leaderless, British troops remained on the killing field. Pushing forward with the reserves, Lambert was met by the remnants of the attack columns as they fled towards the rear. Seeing the situation as hopeless, Lambert pulled back. The only success of the day came across the river where Thorntons command overwhelmed the American position. This too was surrendered though after Lambert learned that it would take 2,000 men to hold the west bank. Battle of New Orleans - Aftermath The victory at New Orleans on January 8 cost Jackson around 13 killed, 58 wounded, and 30 captured for a total of 101. The British reported their losses as 291 killed, 1,262 wounded, and 484 captured/missing for a total of 2,037. A stunningly one-sided victory, the Battle of New Orleans was the signature American land victory of the war. In the wake of the defeat, Lambert and Cochrane withdrew after bombarding Fort St. Philip. Sailing to Mobile Bay, they captured Fort Bowyer in February and made preparations for attacking Mobile. Before the attack could go forward, the British commanders learned that a peace treaty had been signed at Ghent, Belgium. In fact, the treaty had been signed on December 24, 1814, prior to the majority of the fighting in New Orleans. Though the United States Senate had yet to ratify the treaty, its terms stipulated that fighting should cease. While the victory at New Orleans did not influence the content of the treaty, it did aid in forcing the British to abide by its terms. In addition, the battle made Jackson a national hero and aided in propelling him to the presidency. Here, they set up colonies that led to problems for the local inhabitants of those lands who had previously lived in peace. Bartolome de las Casas (Burrell 38 - 39) fought against the ill treatment that the Indians from Hispaniola faced at the time. The Spanish had taken over the islands belonging to the Indians and taken the inhabitants as slaves. They had taken their land and drove them to less habitable areas while taking all the food they produced. The Spanish broke the existing family structures that were in place in the island. Families were separated through death when some of their members were killed. Others were taken away to Spain as slaves to work in plantations, in the mines to harvest gold and in the sea harvesting pearls. Conquest of New Spainâ⬠, it is evident that there were various similarities between the indigenous culture and the European culture at the time. Both cultures had well established cosmologies, high nobles, a priestly class and elected officials. Montezuma was the elected Emperor of Mexico at the time. These civilizations also both had warriors and a sophisticated division of labor that allowed them to conduct their daily affairs in an organized manner. Both cultures engaged in pottery and ceramics, metallurgy, weaving for basketry and clothing. Wake your but up! Is what I yelled to my brother as I had always did he consistently showed himself to be the lazy one who would just breeze through life without a care in the world. He replied back with the bad morning breath, ââ¬Å"Leave, me, alone its only 6:30 school doesnââ¬â¢t start until 7:30. Me as usual I got up pulled him out of bed until he hit the floor then started my routine to get ready for the dayââ¬â¢s events. Oh yeah my name is Gerard by the way. I carried myself across the dimly lit hall towards the bathroom. As I flicked on the light switch, I first noticed this hair pick still stuck in the side of my head. I immediately grabbed it and started to fix my hair. As I stand in front of the mirror looking back at my own reflection, wondering why, does school start this early in the morning, I grabbed the toothbrush and toothpaste and began to a make it happen. My brotherââ¬â¢s name is Joel, and he could care less of his appearance, because he always thought that he was Godââ¬â¢s gift to the ladies. Most of his attire consisted of whatever he felt like grabbing out of the closet or the first thing he could get his hands on. He didnââ¬â¢t care if he was all wrinkled, his excuse was that theyââ¬â¢ll be gone throughout the day plus now one would notice them anyway because thatââ¬â¢s how he rolled. You would have thought that he just came from summer camp playing rugby with a few of his friends before school started. As he came into the bathroom besides me to wash up and get ready, I could always here him saying thanks for getting me up too, knowing that being the older sibling I couldnââ¬â¢t just let him be late for school besides our mother would have killed me. As I look at the clock I notice that we are right on schedule, its 7:00 and time to wake my sister Latoya, sheââ¬â¢s in middle school and does not experience the rush that my brother and I go thru being that the two of us share a room and sometimes wrestle to get around to what we need to be done. The time is now 7:10, and itââ¬â¢s time for us to leave the house headed for school since we live only a quarter of a mile away from the school we can pretty much toss a couple of rocks a few times and weââ¬â¢re there. The only downside is that sometimes we get too complacent living so close to the school that we end up thinking thereââ¬â¢s more time and end up cutting it close to getting to class on time or worse being late and end up with detention. As we get to school they are still selling breakfast its usually something simple like garlic cheesy bread or the cinnamon sugar rolls that are so delicious. But we cannot stand in line and enjoy them today because the first school bell rings and that signifies things need to get closed out and you need to put your thinking caps on. As we exited the cafeteria it was 7:25 and the start of the school day and the final bell rings at 1:50. Joel and I always knew that we would see each other at our lunch period odd as it seems I was a senior and he was a sophomore, but hey, thatââ¬â¢s how the schedules came out. We couldnââ¬â¢t control the outcomes of what we wanted to do we could always find some sort of time to throw a wise crack at one another. elenawilliahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00456235223446236455noreply@blogger.com0
